Women's Team Housing Something new for the 2008 Priority Health Tour de Leelanau is a program where community members are opening up their houses to some of the women's teams. "With women's teams coming from all corners of the US and Canada, we felt that we wanted to give them a down-home feel for Leelanau that they might otherwise miss", said Jackie Morrison, Women's Team Housing Director. "We have had a great response to the whole idea with, really, only a word of mouth type of campaign. Right now, we already have 10 families that are expecting teams to stay with them.""Traveling to races across America is an expensive proposition and providing housing for the women's teams is a great way to help reduce their overhead," added Kirsten Mumma, Team Liaison. "Jackie and I will be communicating with team managers as we match teams with their prospective host families. All of the teams we've been in touch with love the concept of heading to Michigan's favorite vacationland before they get down to the business of bike racing." |
